1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use a web application. They are widely used to make sites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and give site owners information about how their platform is being used.
2. How We Use Cookies
The E&E Work platform uses a minimal set of essential cookies and browser storage mechanisms required for the platform to function correctly. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
- Authentication Session Cookies — These are essential cookies set by Supabase, our authentication provider. They store your encrypted session token so you remain logged in while using the platform. Without these cookies, you cannot access the authenticated portions of the platform.
- Preference Storage — We store your theme preference (light/dark mode) in browser localStorage. This is not a cookie but serves a similar purpose. No personal data is stored.
- Security Tokens — Short-lived tokens used to protect form submissions and authenticate API requests. These are automatically cleared when you sign out.
4. Third-Party Cookies
The Platform uses the following third-party services which may set their own cookies or storage:
- Supabase — Our database and authentication provider. Supabase sets session-related cookies necessary for authentication. See Supabase's privacy policy for details.
- CARTO — Our map tile provider, used for the live workforce map. CARTO may set cookies for tile caching and performance. These are functional only and do not track users.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising networks, or any other tracking technologies.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most modern browsers allow you to:
- View cookies currently stored by websites
- Delete individual or all cookies
- Block cookies from specific or all websites
- Set preferences for how cookies are handled
Please note that blocking essential authentication cookies will prevent you from logging into the platform. Refer to your browser's help documentation for guidance on managing cookies.
6. Cookie Consent
By using the E&E Work platform, you consent to our use of essential cookies as described in this policy. Because we only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the platform to function, we do not require a cookie consent banner under current UK ICO guidance for essential-only cookies. However, we will review this policy if our cookie usage changes.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be communicated via in-platform notification or email. Continued use of the platform following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
